I bought four baguettes, but apparently asking for a second bag has become a luxury reserved for the very wealthy. During my first visit to Marie Blachère in Vandœuvre, I asked for a second bag to carry my bread. The response was: "Sorry, we don't give them out anymore." An interesting way of putting it, suggesting that in a bygone, prosperous era, this extravagance was still permitted. I don't know if this is a new policy of drastic cost-cutting or simply overzealousness, but seeing a bakery cut corners on a paper bag leaves a slightly more bitter taste than the bread is crusty. It's a shame, because this first visit will probably also be my last, unless all the other bakeries in the area were to disappear. Customer service often costs less than a bag.

Very disappointed. Only one employee during the morning rush hour, so you have to be patient and take your time. The wait was too long, so I left and went to a different bakery! I won't be back.
